Lab — UI glossary

When the docs mention "the inspector" or "the playhead," this page is the canonical definition.

Studio surfaces

  • Studio — the main app screen
  • Timeline — the bottom strip showing the day
  • Signal chart — the center time-series view
  • Right drawer — the right-side panel; tabbed between Inspector and Sim, collapsible
  • Inspector tab — the editing surface inside the right drawer; carries a count badge when interactions are firing on the selected item
  • Sim tab — the AI assistant chat surface inside the right drawer
  • Inspector panel / inspector — the body inside the Inspector tab when an item or signal is selected
  • Signal inspector — the inspector body shown when a chart signal is the selection target (rather than a timeline item)
  • Enzyme detail panel — replaces the inspector view when an enzyme chip is clicked; shows live activity, sparkline, composition, and active modulators
  • Scenario selector — the top-bar scenario picker

Controls

  • Playhead — the vertical time cursor on the chart
  • Signal toggle menu — the dropdown for picking which signals to chart
  • Meters strip / Meters panel — the half-circle gauge readouts for subjective states (Energy, Focus, Calm, Mood, Social, Overwhelm, Sleep Pressure); engine-computed, not raw weighted sums
  • Heatmap — the body-system color view
  • Arousal band — the sympathetic / parasympathetic strip
  • Group toggle — switch the chart grouping between Biological System, Goal, Kind, and None

Classification terminology

  • Type — biological family of a signal (hormone, neurotransmitter, metabolic, etc.)
  • Kind — representation paradigm of a signal (analyte, drug-concentration, vital-sign, body-composition, flux, activity, pool, index, pro) — drives how it's rendered and grouped
  • Measurability — how a user can obtain a value (lab / CGM / wearable / self-report / anthropometric / modeled-only)
  • Timescale — dominant change rate of a signal (seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months) — drives the default chart zoom
  • Subjective state / PRO — patient-reported felt experience; the seven meter dials are the engine-computed PRO outputs

Citations + interactions

  • Citation pill — small colored pill on every cited row in the inspector (green = literature, blue = calibration, red ⚠ = uncited). See Citation pills.
  • References section — the numbered source list at the bottom of every inspector view; collapsed by default, auto-expands when you click a pill.
  • Interactions section — the inspector section listing every interaction rule firing on the selected item, sorted by severity.
  • Interaction detail view — replaces the inspector when you click an interaction row; shows mechanism, remediation, items involved, affected signals, citations, derivation.
  • Severity — one of critical (red), warning (amber), benefit (green), or info (blue). Same color appears on the timeline item border, the inspector chip, the tab badge, and the chart pill.
  • Derivation chip — labels how an interaction rule was generated: Clinical look-up, Model-emergent, or Mechanistic inference.
  • PharmD review pending chip — surfaces on rules that haven't been reviewed by a contracted pharmacist yet.

Modals

  • Add Item modal — opened by the + button
  • Profile modal — opened by the profile icon
  • Citation modal — opened from any pill or "view source" link
